In this stunning cinematic debut, rising talent Fabio Mollo (director of the award-winning short Giants) tells a beautiful and unusual coming-of-age story set in a small fishing village in Reggio Calabria about a tomboy who is searching for answers about her missing brother.
Grazia (Miriam Karlkvist, winner of the Berlinale’s “Shooting Star” award for hot new European actors) is 17 and lives in a small town in the South of Italy helping her father Cristiano (Vinicio Marchioni, Honey, 20 Cigarettes) at his fish shop which is under threat from the local Mafia. The ‘Ndrangheta’, as they are otherwise known, want him to sell up and move away. In addition, her brother Pietro (Giorgio Musumeci) disappeared years ago, and is presumed dead and her father’s continued refusal to talk about him creates a wall of silence that is destroying their relationship. One night, after a fight, Grazia sees a vision of her brother as she enters into the sea. She becomes convinced he is still alive and at that moment, resolves to search for him.
